Sculpture By The Sea ~ Cottesloe Beach, Perth, Western Australia '09
During my recent trip to Perth in Western Australia, I was lucky enough to have been there at the opening of the annual Sculpture By The Sea exhibition on Cottesloe Beach. The morning was a perfect combination of clear blue skies, calm and crystal clear waters, and the beautiful sunshine that I'd been missing in Sydney.
I've been to a few of the Sculpture By The Sea exhibitions now both in Perth and Sydney, and they're truly wonderful. There's a real sense of joy and playfulness that the artists have infused into their works – just watching how both children and adults alike interact with the sculptures makes me wonder why there aren't more permanent fixtures of public artworks for us to enjoy.
